Coupled Up

Here’s a photo of my hubby and I out and about at a colleague’s wedding reception.  We were wrapping up our evening when this photo was taken.

I adore Craig’s tie…I have a thing for plaids!  ;)  My dress is the one worn here and my purse was seen on this post here.

Oh by the way, I love this smoothie concoction that I’ve been making lately called the “Green Machine.”  I know you all may be thinking that this doesn’t sound very good, but it’s very delicious!  All you have to do is place 2 handfuls of spinach, one sliced mango, kale, 2 stalks of celery and ¼ cup of pineapple into a high speed blender….and voile…you’ll have a creative and yummy masterpiece.  Let me know if you try it.

Dark Retro

This dress makes me feel like such a lady!  Every woman should have a little black dress and zebra print in her closet.  :)  I got this dress at the Zara in Seville, Spain.

I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend.

Mint Focus: Alyssa DaCosta for Nesting Newbies

Alyssa on the right

1.   Tell me a little about yourself. Where are you from? What's your educational background? What are your general professional and non-professional interests?
This question always makes me uncomfortable! LOL I don't know how to describe myself. I try to be a kind and fun person, so I hope that's what I am :) I graduated from high school in 2008, and I took extensive classes in photography and graphic design. Surprisingly, I love good ol' office work! weird right?

2.   What does fashion mean to you?
To me I like to always look nice, but its not the most important thing to me. I love shopping at discount and second-hand stores to make my outfits look really expensive but really I probably only spent about $20 on the whole thing. I hardly EVER buy items at full-price... I'm a clearance rack girl! Fashion does not have to break the bank.

3.   How would you define your city's fashion?
Hmm... well it depends on what part of the city you go.... If you are downtown you could see anything at any given moment. But some areas have fashion that's very bohemian chic, some areas are very classy, and some are just eccentric!

4.   Who are some of your favorite designers?
Even though I have never bought anything from there I do love Anthropologie. So I try to make outfits that look like they came from there. I also love Juicy Couture, and have been able to find some juicy items at second-hand stores. I don't think I have a favorite designer, maybe just favorite stores like American Eagle, H&M, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, etc.

5.   What do you believe makes a quality article of clothing?
Something that never goes out of style. That little black dress.

6.   What current trend in a fashion store attracts you the most?
Scarves, they are everywhere. I love them!

7.   Describe your style in two words or less.
Casual and Classic

Cream Soda

Shirt:  H&M
Skirt: Baraschi via Anthropologie
Shoes: Tony Bianco

Hello all!  I paired a masculine boyfriend shirt with a very feminine skirt.  I purchased this classic skirt on sale at Anthropologie back in May 2011.  This was my first time wearing it and felt so ladylike in it.  Its sturdy false pockets add a nice modern flare and I love the vintage looking buttons that run down the middle.

These Tony Bianco pumps are my favorite go to shoes…they added such a nice touch to polish off the look.  Also, I had to pull out my pearl necklace, earrings, and bracelet to add to the vintage appeal.

Enjoy your day!

Blue Moon

Hello everyone!  I’ve been very busy lately and as you’ve probably noticed since last month I am no longer using social media to promote my blog.  It was a personal decision, but know that you are still more than welcome to follow me via Bloglovin, Google Connect, or even sign up to receive emails of my new posts.  I hope that you all still drop by often to check out my fashion diary.  :)

Now on to fashion…

This look was soooooo comfy.  I purchased this shirt back in 2007 when I went to Italy...it's totally timeless.  I adore its fanned collar.  I added a belt from a pair of my Zara trousers that made this look even more modern.  This skirt has been in my closet for over 8 years now...another classic item.  I've really learned to shop with practicality!

What do you think about the look?  Also, I got heavy highlights added to my hair – do you like them?

Shirt: Sasch

Skirt & Belt:  Zara
